    1. Terri T. Wilkes –

I like it’s suction but if a loose rug it stops plus it’s a heavy machine for me

    2. MGinSC –

Sucked my shag carpet and my floors fully clean of the dog fur in minutes. Consumer Reports rated it a good buy, and it is. Hopefully it will hold up against the “fur blizzard.”

    3. Jacqueline –

It picked up so much dirt and fur out of the carpet and easily transitioned to the hard floor. I loved seeing the canister fill up with junk that I never was able to see on the floor itself. The swivel is very fluid and makes it easy to get around furniture without having to make a “three point turn”.

I read many reviews with two main complaints: 1. No chord rewind; not that big of a deal. Keeps the appliance lighter weight not to have the mechanism and maintains slender shape.
      2. Weight; I find the weight to be perfect. It’s heavy enough to keep it smooth on the ground and light enough to carry. It does need a firm push when cleaning, but I knew it didn’t have a self propel and I think it’s just part of the good suction causing more friction.

Perfect length chord for me to do my entire downstairs without having to change outlets whereas before I had to move three times. But the chord isn’t so long that it feels like you’re constantly getting tangled.
Best feature in my opinion is that the canister filter, lid, and the rubber seal all separate to allow for thorough cleaning of the appliance itself.
My one complaint is that the attachments don’t seem to really sit snuggly on any of the designated storage areas on the vacuum. They were constantly falling off as I worked. This was quite the inconvenience because I use all of the attachments at various stages as I go room to room and don’t want to have to keep going to the kitchen table to grab the next one I need or go find where it fell off the vacuum.

All in all, I’m very happy with this vacuum, for the price especially.

10/7/2023 – Downgrading this to only 3 stars after more than a week of use.

      – The reviewer who stated that the cord should be mounted on the left side is absolutely correct. If you’re right-handed, as is most of the population, expect to be pulling the cord across the unit to hold in your left hand. I assume most right-handed people push a vacuum with the right and hold the cord in the left.

      – The dirt cup is as messy to empty as any other bagless model or brand. I had to bang the dirt cup on the carpeted floor to loosen dog hair. That, or try to fit my hand up inside. Hoover should include a simple plastic “stick” to loosen jammed dirt. For one of the most expensive models on the market, there should be no banging involved.

      – I don’t think this vacuum will last even for a year. It already feels like the mechanism that holds the vacuum upright will break with repeated use stepping where indicated and pulling the unit back into vacuuming position.

      – And for a $200 vacuum, I don’t see why a retractable cord wasn’t built into this model. Hoover’s cheaper models have one. Why do we have to go back to the 1970s and manually wind the cord? Major fail, Hoover.

      Previous Review:
Like many of the other reviewers on here, I was amazed at what this Hoover pulled out of the bedroom carpet AFTER just vacuuming with my Kirby. Unbelievable. I have a pug and I picked up enough to make a second pug. I don’t mind the swivel feature, found it helpful, but wonder if it will hold up. My big regret on choosing this model is the lack of a retractable cord assembly. I don’t have the patience to wind a vacuum cord after each use, so like my other vacuums, it will look sloppy. Most every other model Hoover is selling right now has the retractable feature. I don’t expect the tools to remain attached for quick use. And while this vacuum is way lighter than a Kirby, it’s still pretty heavy. I won’t be carrying this up and down the stairs. 4 out of 5 stars for ease of assembly (took less than 5 minutes: and the suction.

    5. Crackerjacks –

I’ve been hesitant to buy a new vacuum due to so many options, prices and finding the right one. I vacuumed with my stick cordless vacuum just yesterday. I noticed about a month ago while laying down on my carpet that my stick vacuum is trash.
Now all about my Hoover MaxLife pro pet. I don’t have any pets but enough human hair on these carpets that you would think an animal does live here. This was after JUST my master bedroom, no where else. So happy that I found this vacuum at a good price. Recommending it to friends already.

UPDATE PIC #3 after finishing vacuuming the rest of my home.

Pet Owners, meet your Fairy God Mother, or at least as close as you can get. We live with 8 rescue dogs, including a Great Pyrenees, corgi mixes, beagles and Aussie mixes. I have killed more vacuums than I can count, and yes, they were TOP of the line. This Hoover is a WINNER! Here’s my review: (1) suction power is comparable to a Kirby. I don’t have to spend time making numerous passes like I had to with my third Dyson. The roller doesn’t clog with hair like my Dysons 1-3. This is a HUGE plus, because no broken belts, no nasty accumulations of dog hair, and no fruitless dissections of hair from the roller. The hair goes into the catch canister which is large enough to save you from multiple trips to empty the contents. (2) the design is intuitive, and I’m guessing designed by a pet owner. My big gripe with every other vacuum is the inconvenience of switching from the upright to the handheld vacuum, or wand. This Hoover is AMAZING. You can switch quickly from upright, to hand-held to wand and back again as you tackle each area of your home. It has a switch to increase or decrease the suction power, which is BRILLIANT when it comes to vacuuming delicate items you don’t wish to suction into the tube, like drapes, bed covers, or furniture covers. (3) this vacuum is very maneuverable and it’s design allows you to reach under even a low coffee table. It EXCELS at edging, and the deck is the right width to drive between chair legs, and tilt through tight spaces without a decrease in suction power. It is not self-propelled, although this wasn’t a feature I found necessary. HOOVER may wish to consider this as an option in the future. The edging tool will remove ANYTHING, and it’s got power comparable to edging with a shop-vac. The brush attachment on the hand-held unit works as a duster. I’ve never had a vacuum that could competently work as a DUSTER!! If you have multiple pets, this is a gold-standard feature you won’t wish to do without. The electric cord is not retractable, but who cares when you have 30’ of cord. (4) Vacuum clean-out is amazingly well-designed. Whoever engineered this feature understands the challenges of pet ownership. Dog hair is not the only challenge, and the amount of dust, dirt and dander generated by 8 dogs is the reason I’m a serial vacuum killer. When you release the canister into a trash bag, the contents readily falls out completely. It doesn’t require another tool to empty the contents. Clicking the canister in and out is very user friendly, as is accessing all the inner workings of the canister and filters. (5) I did not find the design of the hose positioning difficult nor cumbersome. There is a top and lower collar to hold the hose in place while you use it as an upright. There is also a tab to hold the electric cord up and away from the vacuum. Other brilliant features are the LED lights which light up darkened areas (under furniture, behind doors), the on/off roller brush function, and the BIG red on/off power button. The rubber pet hair “comb” is not a notarized brush, but fits on the end of the hand-held, or the wand. The suction is so superior, that the hair lift by this device just enables the vacuum to pick up and take the hair away.
In summary, if you own multiple pets, buy it. I’m guessing it could handle a shedding horse, although that is not it’s intended use. However, for you horse people, you will understand how impressive this vacuum must be. Horse people have little or no time to clean their houses, so consider this sweeper as a real time saver. It grabs the dust bunnies from dogs and cats, does a decent job on hair removal from furniture, and maneuvers on the swivel deck easily with one hand from hard floor to carpeted areas. Buy it.

    7. kc –

Wow! I love this thing. Super easy to install, great suction and power, I love the light. It brought the fluff back to my carpet after the old one wore it down/flat. Only little downfall is that it is heavy. I get a good arm work out using it. Not a problem for me but something to consider for someone who may find pushing it around hard to do.

    8. Melissa –

I am not normally the person to get excited over new cleaning products. I just want something that does the job it’s supposed to do – no bells and whistles necessary. This vacuum got me excited enough to come write a review.

I’m going to break this down by features.
      – Chord length – The chord is nice and long! With my old vacuum I would get so annoyed because I was either accidentally pulling the plug out of the outlet or having to stop what I’m doing to change to a closer outlet just to finish a room. Drove me insane! With the Hoover I found myself able to do an entire room and sometimes start into another room all without having to change outlets. Seems silly to rave about but it saved me time and frustration.
      – Hose/tools – I live near the woods so I’m in a constant battle with spiders and cobwebs. A durable hose is important to help clean the hard to reach webs. I just received the vacuum yesterday so I cannot attest to the long lasting durability of the hose but it feels like a great quality and made my dusting rounds today a lot easier. My last vacuum the hose kept cracking and I would lose all suction and had to hold it a certain way to be able to clean. The Hoover also has an awesome feature where you can lower the suction of the hose which I found helpful today when a plant tipped over on my table and I was able to clean it up without sucking up the table cloth. As far as the tools – it came with this weird “pet” attachment that has heavy duty rubber strips instead of rollers – at first I looked at it like “what the heck is this going to do?” but let me tell you – it’s amazing. I vacuumed my steps today with that attachment and while it’s kind of awkward to use at first it completely transformed the carpet and brought it back to life! I literally texted my husband while he was at work saying “the pet attachment completely revitalized our carpet!!” (it’s been a tough year so yea I’m pumped with any small wins).
      – Weight – I know some of the reviews said that it’s too heavy and hard to push – I disagree. It’s not the lightest vacuum I’ve ever owned but it definitely isn’t too heavy. It has just enough weight to feel like it’s built to last and it has amazing suction power that you can definitely feel when pushing but I did my entire house today – including carrying the unit up the stairs while cleaning them – and carrying the vacuum by the handle while using the hose to clean all along the trim and ceilings and I have no complaints about the weight. Trust me I’m no weight lifter so my arms would be falling off if this was too much to handle.
      – Hardwood/tile – I know a lot of vacuums say they are good for hardwood and tile floors – I have never been impressed with their abilities and opted for a broom and dust pan – I have three dogs so I would get what I like to call “fur tumbleweeds” not fun to deal with. The Hoover seemed to do an amazing job even on the non carpet areas of the house so I’m pretty pumped to not have to sweep around tumbleweeds anymore!

So if anyone is still reading at this point…bottom line is so far I’m very impressed with this vacuum. If I remember I will come back and update about the long lasting durability but after researching a bunch of vacuums and seeing the prices I am happy to say that this vacuum is cheaper and seems to do an amazing job so far! The amount of dirt/dander/ and fur it picked up even though I recently vacuumed with my old vacuum is amazing (and disturbing!) My husband and I have noticed our allergies this year have been out of control and after seeing what this vacuum picked up I wasn’t surprised! So hopefully now we will be getting some relief!

This vacuum and I have a love/hate relationship. I bought this vacuum two years ago and it broke on the first or second use. I attempted to lift the vacuum while maneuvering around my house and the top handle above the suction control snapped off. I was lucky enough that this happened within the 30 day return period, as I was able to get a replacement after returning the broken one to Amazon.
This would have been a surprise if this vacuum wasn’t so HEAVY!! So now, anytime I need to lift the vacuum while cleaning or I need to carry the vacuum to a different room, I grab the huge handle on top of the canister (which I foolishly should have done in the first place) and this vacuum has been a dream since! Each week the vacuum visibly lifts the carpet fibers while maneuvering around the house and picks up so much pet hair and dust. The canister is almost full each time I use it which my old (very old) vacuum could never accomplish. It makes vacuuming so much more rewarding as I can see how powerful this vacuum is even after two years of use.
Do I recommend this vacuum? No, as I fear if I forget JUST ONE TIME to always pick the vacuum up from the canister handle and not the uppermost handle, then my powerful vacuum will break and it is definitely too late to return. When that happens, or when the vacuum finally gives up, I will do my research for another vacuum that is hopefully just as powerful but much more sturdy and durable, as well as much lighter, and maybe has an easy retractable cord or even CORDLESS that would be nice.

The vacuum works great but I have a bad back and it is hard to push
